Emma Richardson: I'm Emma Richardson here with AskARoofer.com, and we're talking to our AskARoofer Expert Bridget Wilson. Bridget, how are you today?
Bridget Wilson: I'm doing well. How are you doing today?
Emma Richardson: I'm doing great, I'm doing great, excited for some cooler weather. We're talking about our September expert topic for Ask a Roofer, which is sustainable and green roofing. Do you have anything you'd like to share?
Bridget Wilson: Yeah, I am in Florida. Obviously we we love anything that. It's helpful with making our buildings cooler here. So one of the things that we love to do here, you know, rather than taking off a roof and putting it back on is doing a restoration or a recover, it you will. Be it doing a reroof , which isn't usually the best course of action here, or restoring the roof with doing either a silicone coating or even an acrylic coating. And this is on flat roofs. Getting them if they're done in the white, cool reflective coatings, that can really really help building owners here cut down on their energy costs, things like that, because of the real reflectivity and keeping the buildings just way cooler. Our ACs run 363 days out of the year. We get maybe two or three days that we might run heat or put on our fireplaces. But you know we're running the AC constantly here. So that helps the ACs, the HVAC people don't have to work as hard. So then the ACs aren't working as hard.
Emma Richardson: For sure. I think what you're saying about climate being a big contributor for where these can do the most good, and also those ripple out effects, you know, it keeps your building cooler. It keeps your electricity savings lower, and it keeps your it keeps your AC from even burning out faster. I think those are all a bunch of benefits that that really ripple out, that you might not think of.
Bridget Wilson: Absolutely, yeah.
Emma Richardson: Well, awesome. Thank you so much for joining us, Bridget, and we'll catch you again next month. Thank you. Bye-bye.
Bridget Wilson: Awesome, thank you. Bye bye.
