Top August articles: Curb appeal and heartwarming connections

August brought stories of style, innovation and heart that kept the AskARoofer community coming back for more. 

While August 2025 has come to a close, there have been a variety of stories that have grabbed the attention of our AskARoofer community. One topic that got a lot of attention was curb appeal, with Miguel Jacinto of Renoworks writing two of the articles on our list. The first focused on how “giving your home’s exterior a paint job is one of the best ways to freshen up the look and keep in touch with the latest aesthetic trends.” Not only does this help a home’s resale value, but it can also improve energy efficiency! His other article talked about how Renoworks’ quote tools can give homeowners the power to accurately calculate the cost of any and all renovation projects.  

In addition to articles about building curb appeal, our community spent August reading about some heartwarming stories. One was about how Guardian Roofing, Gutters & Insulation, a roofer in Washington, helped a local couple get a new roof through their annual HALO Project. Lori Swanson, owner of Guardian, shared a little about the project, saying, “At Guardian, the HALO Project has become something we all look forward to. It brings out the very best in our team. We don’t just give back - we grow stronger together. This project unites us around a common mission and reminds us why we do what we do.” 

Readers were also interested in an article by our very own Jenny Yu all about the P23 Retreat. This is a nonprofit that aims to help couples who are grieving the loss of a child find a place to heal peacefully. Run by Cindy and Scott Shufflebarger, owners of residential and commercial roofing business Hertless Brothers Roofing, Inc., P23 has helped 35 families over 13 individual and two group retreats (as of 2024).
