Here at AskARoofer, we know that life moves fast! That’s why we created the AskARoofer (AAR) Minisode series. Released twice a month, this podcast connects home and building owners like you to information about roofs in digestible 10-minute or less episodes. These valuable insights and tips come to you directly from trusted members of our RoofersCoffeeShop® R-club program who are working on roofs day-in and day-out.
Recently, we hosted Wendy Marvin from Matrix Roofing and Lee Lipiniski from Levello Construction for a conversation about preparing your home for seasonal weather changes. Wendy explained, “Wildfires hit us hard last year. One of the big things we talk about is WUI (Wildfire Urban Interface) areas. This last year we saw that area get expanded, so new areas got designated, we saw a big uprise in conversation about how to protect your home.” Lee also saw this increased interest in proactive protection as Colorado recently saw the most hail and rain they’ve experienced in the last four years.
We also got the chance to talk with John Kenney from Cotney Consulting Group about asbestos testing in older homes and buildings. This is something that is primarily a concern for any structure built before the 1980s. In this episode, John shares everything from what asbestos is to where you should be watching out for it in your home – all in under 10 minutes!
There was also an episode recently that explored the advanced technology of Tesla Solar Roofs with Mohammed Abdalla, a solar energy expert from Good Faith Energy. He shared some advice and thoughts on the advantages, installation process and long-term benefits of integrating solar energy directly into your roof.
And, last but not least, Jennifer George with Northern Arizona Roof Services stopped by for an episode about working with purpose-driven roofers who give back to their communities. She put it succinctly, “It’s not just about the work we do day-to-day, it’s about contributing to something bigger than ourselves.”
