In a recent episode of the AskARoofer™ Podcast, Lauren White spoke with Mitch Sargent, senior commercial account executive at Good Faith Energy, about the expanding role of solar in commercial roofing. 

Good Faith Energy is an energy company and solar installer based in Dallas, Texas. “We're an EPC — equipment, procurement and construction company,” Mitch explained. “We handle everything when it comes to solar installations; we don't outsource anything. We have our own installation crew, and we have a roofing division as well as an EV charging company. We're one of the highest rated companies in the state of Texas.” 

With a background as a wine sommelier who transitioned to residential solar sales, Mitch explained what initially drew him to working in commercial solar. “I really liked the idea that I could make a bigger impact on the planet, employing larger arrays and offsetting more emissions,” Mitch shared. “It's fun for me to bring a potential client on that journey through the proposal process, because I think there's a lot more to it than just slapping some panels on the roof, and a lot more to achieve the client's goals. It's exciting.” 

When clients consider adding solar, Mitch stresses the importance of regular roof maintenance and inspections. “It's so important to not ignore your roof,” Mitch stated. “If you've got an old roof, it can be really difficult to fix issues down the line. So, I always recommend a roof inspection before you get solar installed. You're making a big investment; it’s better to do it right. Otherwise, you end up paying more in the long run.”
