If there is a roof above you, this podcast is meant for you! Our AskARoofer (AAR) Minisode series releases 10-minute or less podcasts twice a month that give you understandable and accessible information about roofing. From advice on maintaining your roof to tips for hiring a contractor and everything between, our trusted RoofersCoffeeShop® R-club members will give you helpful and accessible information each episode.
In the last couple of months, we’ve had some great episodes that we want to highlight for you! If you want to hear more, make sure to check out the series on AskARoofer, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts and any other streaming service you use for podcasts.
When we think about the roof over our heads, we often think about whether it is protecting us properly from the elements. Maybe we wonder if there’s moss growing on it that should be cleaned. But we don’t often think of the history behind it. In this AAR Minisode, John Kenney of Cotney Consulting Group stops by AskARoofer to give a little insight into the history of roofing. John shared a bit about why this topic is significant to him personally, saying, “I think you can do anything in life if you really study historical events. Study your industry or study, whatever it is in history, and you're going to do better. And I use a lot of these lessons that we learned throughout studying history with clients today, like productivity and efficiency.”
In another recent AAR Minisode, we got the chance to talk to the Kruse Brothers about all things siding! Randy and Steve went over all the common questions you might have about your siding, including:
The duo then shared how LP Building Solutions' SmartSiding can help answer these questions!
Just like you have to have a certificate to teach in schools or to operate a hair salon, you need to be certified to work in the roofing industry. In one AAR Minisode, Henry Staggs from The Arizona Roofer came by to explore the topic of certifications and training in the roofing industry. There are many different types of certificates available to roofers, so Henry breaks down what is available, the training and licensing behind each certification and the questions you as a homeowner should be asking to ensure you’re hiring the right person for your project.
And last but not least, in this AAR Minisode we got the chance to sit down with experts from DaVinci Roofscapes and Horn Brothers Roofing to talk about what to do if your roof is damaged by the weather. Their conversation guides you through what to do in the aftermath of a storm, like figuring out if you have roof damage and how to get a contractor out to help you. They also give some advice for those living in areas that get consistent bad storms, such as the Midwest and coastal areas susceptible to hurricanes.
