Get the information you need about your roof in the expert-led AskARoofer™ Minisode series!
When someone buys a home or building, there’s a lot to think about – from making sure the floorplans make sense to checking things like plumbing and electrical for performance. It’s easy to get overwhelmed and forget to check everything, especially if it’s out of sight, out of mind, like a roof. But just because you can’t see the roof, doesn’t mean that it’s not important to understand how it functions and to stay on top of maintaining it.
To make it a little easier for home and business owners to manage the different parts of their roofs, the AskARoofer™ team hosts a weekly series of minisodes that teaches listeners about their roof in easy-to-understand, ten-minute chunks! This is a great resource for those looking to solve a specific problem and those who just want to be more informed about the roof protecting them.
To give you a preview of what type of information to expect from this series, here’s what our last four episodes covered!
1 – Making the switch to concrete
Featuring Andy Stofleth of V.C. Veterans Contracting LLC, this AskARoofer™ Minisode responds directly to a homeowner question sent in by one of our AskARoofer™ readers! Desiree from Florida reached out looking for information about installing a concrete roof and Andy had the answers! From structural consideration to ventilation requirements, listeners learned all about concrete roofs in this Minisode.
2 – Mold and roof masts
In this Minisode, John Kenney of Cotney Consulting Group dives into what a roof mast is (a roof penetration). He then goes further into detail on how roof masts should age, and how home and business owners can tell when there is a problem with their roof masts’ design, installation or condition.
3 – Leaks and parapets
Titled “What Protects a Parapet Wall,” this Minisode features a discussion of what the warning signs of deterioration are for parapet walls. It also dives into the waterproofing and flashing details that home and business owners should ask about in order to ensure they are getting a long-lasting repair.
4 – Underlayment and weather exposure
This Minisode also features John Kenney, this time talking about what to do if roofing underlayment is left exposed. This is an issue that crops up from time to time, such as when a tile roof section meets a low-slope section. Make sure to check out the podcast so that you know what to ask your contractor if you ever find yourself in this situation.
