Oh joy! A new roof

If you’re in the process of searching for a new roof, here’s something you might not expect. Homeowners completing a roof project have a Joy Score rating of a perfect 10!

The National Association of Realtors® (who created the 2025 Remodeling Impact Report along with the National Association of the Remodeling Industry), calculated a Joy Score for each of the projects they evaluated in their report. This is a ranking from 1 to 10 based on the happiness homeowners reported after completing a remodeling project.

Just three projects received a perfect 10 rating. Those projects are:

• Adding a primary bedroom suite
• Completing a kitchen upgrade
• Getting a new roof

When it comes to completing a roofing project, that 10 score meshes perfectly with a few other numbers from the study. 28% of homeowners say that the single most important result from a remodeling project is better functionality and livability (and what new roof doesn’t provide that aspect?). Then, 23% are pleased with the durability and long-lasting results of a project. An equal number of 23% report that beauty and aesthetics are also a satisfying feeling when completing a project. And yes, all of these are achievable with a new roof.
