This homeowner did their homework ahead of the time to invest in the right roof.

Since Alex Zausner moved into his home in 2004, his house has survived two hurricanes, six tropical storms and hundreds of severe weather events. There’s also been a tree that’s fallen on his home and hundreds of snow and ice storms.

Yet Alex has no complaints about his composite slate roof. The Meadowbrook, Pennsylvania resident says he’s never replaced a tile or had any work done and the roof recently sailed through a yearly inspection.

"Our family feels so secure under the DaVinci roof,” says Alex. “It’s really ‘invisible’ most of the time… until an event happens or a neighbor has to do roofing work. Then we remember again how smart we were to make this roofing selection.”

Smart researcher

When he bought his home more than two decades ago, Alex cringed when he saw the two layers of asphalt shingles on the roof. It was original to the 1948 house and was crumbling and leaking.

He spent a year researching roofing materials. “I wanted low-maintenance roofing with a really long, solid warranty,” says Alex. “When we found DaVinci synthetic slate, the look, longevity and warranty jumped out at us. It was a great option to real slate that’s very expensive and heavy on a roof. The combination of price, quality and durability were hard to beat, so we were ‘all in’ on the DaVinci investment.”

Made to last

Crafted of virgin resins, UV and thermal stabilizers as well as a fire retardant, DaVinci tiles are Class A fire and Class 4 impact rated. The durable tiles resist winds up to 180 mph, severe weather, mold, splitting and cracking.

Backed by a Lifetime Limited Material Warranty, DaVinci shake and slate composite roofing tiles come in dozens of color options. The materials are Made in America and tested to meet and oftentimes exceed, industry standards.

The DaVinci Multi-Width Slate roof Alex chose earns him a 5% discount year-after-year on his homeowner’s insurance from USAA because it’s composite roofing.

“They have a ‘superior materials’ reduction that we qualify for because of both our DaVinci roof and my underfloor heating system,” says Alex. “By making smart investments upfront two decades ago, we’re saving every year in many ways!”
