Valley
There are many different ways to install valleys with the many options of roofing products out there. Here is a picture of a 14:12 heavy shake with a roof valley. It is installed with 24 inch wide prepainted W valley metal. We call it W valley because it is formed in the shape of a W. Prior to installation we lay a 36 inch wide felt under the valley metal. The cedar shakes are angle cut to fit leaving a trough so water run downward. This type of system when properly installed will provide protection to the roof deck from moisture intrusion.
